Renowned Joe Gibbs Racing To Provide Hall of Fame Racing with Cars and Team
Support
Dallas, TX, Aug. 16th, 2005: Texas Instruments (TI) (NYSE: TXN) today
announced that its DLPT Products organization will serve as the primary
sponsor of the Hall of Fame Racing team starting with the 2006 NASCAR Nextel
Cup Series season.
The sponsorship branding will focus on DLP HDTV. High-definition
televisions based on TI DLP technology are now being manufactured by more
than 15 consumer electronics companies. With DLP HDTV, NASCAR fans can
experience the ultimate in high-definition racing. The Texas Instruments
DLP HDTV car from Hall of Fame Racing will premiere at the Daytona 500 on
Feb. 19, 2006.
Hall of Fame Racing was formed by three-time Super Bowl winning quarterback
Troy Aikman, Hall of Fame and two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback Roger
Staubach, and business man and veteran Trans Am driver Bill Saunders.
Staubach and Aikman bring sports leadership and excellence to the team as
world-class football superstars who both had illustrious NFL careers. The
multi-year relationship between TI and Hall of Fame Racing includes an
agreement with Joe Gibbs Racing, one of the most successful teams in the
NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, to provide cars, engines, personnel, technology
and various racing support services. Hall of Fame Racing is currently
reviewing drivers and crew, which are expected to be announced within the
next few months.
DLP HDTVs allow NASCAR fans to feel like they are in the action by offering
vibrant colors, razor-sharp images, and excellent reproduction of the fast
motion races. Multiple television manufacturers recently announced the
availability of maximum-HD 1080p resolution DLP HDTVs, making DLP technology
the first volume big-screen 1080p TV solution available. Leading Consumer
Electronics companies manufacture and market DLP HDTVs, including LG,
Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Samsung, Sharp, Toshiba, and TTE under its RCA brand.
This deal represents a new direction for TI in direct-to-consumer marketing
of its technology. TI is committed to educating consumers about the benefits
of DLP technology for HDTV, and in addition to this deal, will be building
DLP HDTV awareness through nationwide advertising, key events, and at
retail.
"We are thrilled to serve as the primary sponsor of Hall of Fame Racing. We
both share a strong commitment to deliver a high-performance NASCAR
experience," said John Van Scoter, Senior Vice President of Texas
Instruments, and General Manager of DLP Products. "DLP technology gives
NASCAR fans the ultimate high-definition viewing of the races and we look
forward to showcasing DLP HDTV during the 2006 NASCAR season."
"We are fortunate to have attracted a world class sponsor like Texas
Instruments DLP Products," said Aikman. "Watching a DLP HDTV is incredible;
I don't know why anybody would have a large screen HDTV without DLP
technology inside. It's great when you have a sponsor that delivers the
utmost in quality and innovation so you can support the brand
enthusiastically."
"With DLP Products as our primary sponsor and Joe Gibbs Racing as our big
brother team, the pressure is on us," said Staubach. "Our first task is to
find a driver and crew chief we can build a program around and our Gibbs
affiliation will make all the difference. The NASCAR Nextel Cup garage is
loaded with talent and dedicated racers; we want to attract people who want
to win and then give them the tools and support to get the job done."
