The Lord of the Rings, The Return of the King is showing on TNT's HD channel.
The Aspect Ratio in theaters was 2:35
TNT is broadcasting it a 1.78
If my calculation is correct, viewers are missing 25% of the picture.
How pathetic.

sometimes the delivery of a peasant is so much quicker and to the point...

TNT HD stinks!

They take Judging Amy episodes, NOT THE HD ONES (and all of them were
HD), but the 4:3 SD versions and do a non linear stretch on the sides to
fill out your 16:9 screen!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

It should be...
TNT - butchered SD, cropped 4:3 to 16:9 HD and sometimes real OAR HD

But that would be too big for guides and the corner on your screen

Which brings me back to the question, isn't against the law
("fraud") for them to advertise it as HD?
Anyone for signing a petition to the FCC for "misrepresentation"?
How about a demand to Tribute that they stop sending out
that this crap is in HD?
Let's use this group to make a change!!!!!!
Accountability !!!

Nope. AS long as they provide some real HD content I would think they
qualify.

No law against what they do with SD content to make it seem HD.

Back in the day............was it illegal for companies to take mono
recordings and "rechannel" them for stereo and just call them "StereO"?

While some companies really did admit to rechanneling, others did not.

Take a look at some of the "HD" shows on TNT. The logo at the bottom
proclaiming "You're watching TNT in High-Definition . . . . .The Best
SOUND in High-Definition ", tells me
that they know that the PQ is not HD but that the sound is 5.1. Of
course, I'm sure we're not supposed to notice that . . .
