Toshiba 42HDX82 Picture Failing

I'm hoping for a bit of advice and/or direction regarding my RPTV. The
set is about four years old. About 4 - 6 weeks ago I noticed that when
first turned on, all the vertical image edges are zigzagged. Seriously
zigzagged. Not a straight vertical image edge to be found anywhere.
After the set warmed up for a while the picture settles down and the
zigzagged image edges are less pronounced and only visible in the top
third of the display. And only on the non-HD inputs. Well, it is kinda
noticeable on the HD inputs but you really have to look for it. When it
first started happening, it cleared up completely in about ten minutes.
Then it started taking longer and longer. Now, it doesn't clear up even
after hours of viewing. The picture becomes visible (not particularly
viewable) but the zigzagged vertical image edges remain in the top third
of the display.

I was wondering if this is something that can be repaired (for less than
the cost of a replacement set). Are there modules / cards that can be
replaced?

The set was ISF calibrated a few years ago and has performed well until
this started. I'm not opposed to making adjustments in the service menu
if there's something to tweak there but that seems unlikely. I spent a
bit of time there before having it professionally calibrated.

Any comment's and or pointers would be appreciated.

P.S. Richard, very nice job on "HD Waveform 10 - Dynamic Iris and
Gamma"!!!!

You don't happen to have one about "zigzagged vertical image edges", do
you? Seriously, nice work. I found it very helpful after hooking up my
Sony KDL52XBR2 which promotes the virtues(?) of it's dynamic iris and
provides user adjustment capability for that as well as Gamma and lots
more. It'll be ISF calibrated at the end of the month.

That is a hyper module that needs to be repaired or replaced. The TV is
also more than ready for a cleaning and tune up. In my neck of the woods
that is about $500 for everything.

Find a NESDA service center
