Dale and Shane report unhappy experiences with the Direct HR20.

Last week I upgraded from a Dish 6000 to a ViP622. I had decided forgo
the 921, an earlier version, which was less than wonderful. This (622)
unit seems to be very nice, in all respects. The only feature I would
like to have would be support of a second HD monitor. The second
(independent) output is SD only.

My only concern with the 622 is having one OTA tuner. Otherwise, I concur with the opinion
on the 622. When they get the bugs worked out on the HR20 AND activate the OTA tuners,
then I think the HR20 will be a better alternative. Both appear to not have the dual buffer
capability on the HR10-250 and for me, that would a feature I would miss greatly.

My vip622 has been flawless in hundreds of hours of recording. The second
tuner being SD only has not been a drawback for me with the way I use it.

Just for clarification ... it's Ed that has had unhappy experiences.
Neither Dale nor myself have any experience with the unit.

Thanks,

Howard,
You are probably aware of this, but the 622's HD outputs on TV-1 (HDMI and
component) are both active all the time. You have to watch the same
program on both, of course, but it does work. I have the component going
to my older RP CRT display, and the HDMI going to a smaller LCD screen in
the bar. It makes it great for watching the same program in both places
(like a football game, for example). Extra remotes are available for about
$35 (you can control TV-1 with either RF or IR).
