Mitch,
Re: Wxp Pro. No need to install patch for the worm, right? I run Norton
and Zone Alarm Pro 4. I think I am fairly well protected. I never
installed SP2 since I was running Norton Anti-Virus 2005 and the
firewall. Do you think that is ok???

A little off subject (for the list), but here's my 2 cents worth, since
I
deal with this on a daily basis in my profession and since we all need
to be
aware of these issues.
Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (W2K SP3) and earlier are already retired.
Microsoft is producing security patches for only W2K SP4 effective June
this
year. They will be providing "extended support" (read security patches)
through 2010. Any OS prior to W2K is now retired, and they are no
longer
providing patches, unless you pay them a very large sum of money to
receive
them.
So, in short, you can run W2K through June of 2010, as long as you can
live
with the shortcomings, and all you want are security updates. My
professional opinion, just about any piece of hardware that will run W2K
efficiently, will run Windows XP. It's worth the upgrade. Of course,
an
upgrade license for XP costs about 1/3 the cost of a decent (not top of
the
line) computer, so that is something to consider.

I know many whole Co's that are still running mostly
Win2000, it is still around, Gee there must be 100s of
thousands of older home(still in use)PCs running
Win2000 still.
You are right about the OS, if I want to try the HD
Windows Media files, I cannot.
I have a Laptop with XP but not the horsepower to run
the HD files

I need a new PC.. ugh will at least there cheap now!
