I think it was Phil who brought up leno...

About a year ago I posted at HD Library an artifact I was seeing with
Leno to see if any others had recognized it. The post is gone, the only
response was we don't see it.

Pin stripes will show this error if they are very fine pushing over 1000
lines of resolution to the screen. What I noted is that the vertical
resolution was better than the horizontal. Stripes going up and down
would fade out before those same stripes going across would. My
conclusion is either the old cameras or the studio was rolling off the
horizontal resolution. I saved one show with Adam Sandler in a blue
white pin stripe shirt where I could clearly see it and show it but
never had the time to take the effort to remove that HDD from the DVR
and do all the stuff that needs to be done to create pictures of it to
show others on the forum.

If this is what you are complaining about then you are in DEEP denial...

You ARE a videophile!

Richard,

I am not sure what you mean when you say "fade out".
What I am seeing is related to movement. The lines did "fade out" when Leno
was moving around. They were fine vertical whit pinstripes on his black suit
coat. At times when he was relatively still, the lines were relatively solid
and quite apparent. I noticed this effect again on a commercial where a boy
had a fine checkerboard pattern on his shirt. Not nearly so pronounced, and
this was a SD 480i commercial so I was not nearly as concerned as I was in
seeing this on what is reported by most to be a good HD production. These
were the only occasions that I have been able to see this effect.

So...I don't know, am I in denial
:)

Phil

That does not sound like what I saw... Still left with the impression it
is a function of display design.

Regardless, yes, you are in denial...

:)

There are thousands watching your display and think all is hunky dory...
