Sorry, good eye, I made a typo.
I should have said $7500
One place (to mention one, I do not recommend anything casually on the
internet):
http://www.plasmaplanet.com/PLASMA_DISP ... 5PX600.htm
But I did not do much price search so it might be cheaper.
I am not concern with getting a rock bottom price but rather on getting good
support of delivery/customer satisfaction/installation expertise, so the
person does not have a nightmare on his hands with such large panel (I am in
VA, he is in FL).
This panel was in CES for its second year. Now in production.
Regarding HDMI. For sure is minimum 1.2. Panasonic did not get back to me
after the show to confirm 1.3 when I asked the same question, and I do not
trust verbal casual statements of "yes it has it" from anyone at CES.
I will be requesting that in written soon.
Still a great price compared to what one can get on the competition, in even
smaller sizes.

Just curious, Rodolfo, if you can tell me,
Where did you see the 65" Panny for $+- 6500? That is the one I saw at CES
with HDMI 1.3 x 2, no?

Plasmas (your target)
-------------------------------
Currently available, all 1080p:
103" Panny $+-70K (ask Mark Cuban for performance he has one, maybe in the
bath room)
65" Panny $+- 6500 (Nov 06, good quality, I am installing one in FL soon)
71" LG originally $+-70K, look down
80" Samsung, originally $39K, then changed to $80K when their pants burned,
$ now: I have to check, old unit.
To be expected in 2007, all 1080p:
Some 60s from others, no 70s.
Pioneer Elite new video technology in 60" but sizes not yet announced
(EXCELLENT image demo, the panel to get if you are looking for stunning
quality), mid 2007, expect +++$$ (the current 50" 1080p was introduced as
$10K)
Lowered price announced on the 71" LG above (I believe to about +-$20K, have
to check).
I have to review the plasma section to confirm the rest of the oversized
panels to confirm $ and TTM.
Wall mounting slim non plasma:
--------------------------------------
JVC DLP slim in 2007, decent price, DILA image though.
Others are doing slim DLP as well, RCA in 2005 and abandoned it, need to
review the sections to confirm $ and TTM of new models.
Sony SXRDs slim design, have to check TTM.
LCDs on that size:
--------------------------
Requires a 2nd mortgage.
And they do not hold a candle to plasma in quality, performance, image, and
$.
But they are cool, people buy cool. People bought VHS not super-Beta, not
even S-VHS on the same format.
1080p 70"?
Why not a small screen/front projector with a 70-80" screen? Sony even did
the 80" black screen back two years ago, I am not endorsing just informing.
Alternative.
The type of equipment you are looking for would not be for CC and BB type of
sales people, do not let them fool you, they have no idea of what is coming,
not even for next week.
One way to get a long-term vision of what is coming is here, but I have not
finished all the analysis, what I can do for you is send another email when
I finish that part.
Or get a consultant that works with all the brands AND is well informed,
some installers could help but they do not have the time to look across all
the market, they (should) know what they work with, the nature of business
to survive, they have to choose the brands they can support.
Hope it helps,
That will be $150 Sr, we take VISA!
Best Regards,
Rodolfo La Maestra

I have a 50" plasma (Panasonic TH-50PHD8UK) at 720P. Its okay, basically.
But it looks like it has a 16 shades of gray. (w/8 series HDMI blade) In
less than half bright images, you can see light to dark in very distinct
"steps". When fully bright, its not an issue. Same for a source of DirecTV
HR-20, HR10-250 for HD, or an up scaling Panasonic DVD player.
I want to upgrade to a 70" 1080P flat panel with a consistent 90 degree
viewing angle. Hopefully, with an indiscernible transition from dark to
light. Plus accurate colors and lots of close up detail, etc.
Any ideas?
Alan
