----- HDTV Magazine Tips List -----
Here is response from local HD forum from local
engineer at our NBC affiliate:
Re: NASCAR Busch series Saturday race.
Seems that NBC advance programming did not mention HD
version so our programming department programmed the
automation to stay on up-converted SD
which is what you watched. Yes the off-air was being
monitored by our Hub but since it was logged as SD
nothing was changed, even though a discrepancy
that it should have been HD was logged. There was a
HD version of the race but no station on the west
coast aired it due to instructions being
wrong.
These errors are documented and the staff that is
involved including the programming people in NY do get
pressed not to make or duplicate these problems. It
will get better for you the viewers as NBC and KNTV
ramp up the HD programming.
END
Hopefully things will get better during the rest of
the races this season
ps: those who get TNT-HD will(should) get both days of
NASCAR racing in HD this coming weekend from New
Hampshire, enjoy.
