A number of significant technology developments have occurred in the last five years that has enabled the electronic playback and display of feature films.

In order to provide a representative sampling of the industry familiar with all aspects of digital cinema visual quality, MPEG requests the participation of the highly discriminating visual experts of the ITS in the upcoming MPEG Digital Cinema compression testing to be conducted in Los Angeles, California, USA, during the week of June 25-29 of 2001. Testing is expected to occur over a 2 - 4 consecutive day period.

MPEG believes that through the participation and dedication of qualified individuals that have an interest in the future of Digital Cinema, there will be a greater opportunity to validate and ensure an open standard that will be accepted by industry.

Qualified and interested individuals who are able to dedicate to the testing schedule are urged to send an email to Mr. Dave Dawson ([email protected]) as soon as possible.
