Summary
The Aragon Stage One is a THX Ultra2 Certified preamplifier/processor/tuner supporting 5.1, 6.1, and 7.1 decoding for Dolby Pro Logic II, dts-ES, and THX Surround EX formats. It features 24-bit/192kHz DACs, analog pass-through for DVD-Audio and SACD, and wide-bandwidth relays for routing HDTV and component video signals without degradation.
The Stage One is a new high-performance, THX Ultra2 Certified
preamplifier/processor/tuner that supports 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1 decoding for todays most
popular formats including Dolby Pro Logic II, dtsES-Matrix and Discrete, dtsNEO:6 and
THX Surround EX. The Stage One adheres to Mondial Designs classic minimalist
design approach and THX Ultra2 specifications, which together ensure the highest level
of premium performance and reliability. Not only is the Stage One on the leading-edge of
performance, but it is one of the easiest to operate preamplifiers on the market. We ask,
what good is a product with the best features and performance if it is so difficult to use
that you never enjoy listening?
The Stage One circuitry was designed, above all else, to do no harm to the audio and video
signals. Beginning with the audio circuitry from our reference stereo preamp, we designed
this model as a multi-channel preamp that can perform as well in a high-end two-channel
audio system as it can in a multi-channel music and movie system. High-end 24-bit/192kHz
digital/analog convertors are found inside the Stage One along with the capability for
2-channel and 8-channel analog pass-through for use with new multi-channel audio formats
like DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD. The intuitive, one-touch user interface not only allows
the front panel to be striking without being overloaded with rows and rows of buttons, but
it also eliminates the need for on-screen character generators that compromise video
signals. Wide bandwidth relays allow HDTV, Component Video, Progressive Scan, composite
and S-Video signals to be routed without signal degradation.
The Stage One has a full complement of digital audio, analog audio, video switching and
control jack connections including seven A/V inputs and an on-board AM/FM tuner. The large
front-panel vacuum tube florescent display adds to the ease-of-operation and a Philips
ProntoNEO learning, preprogrammed, touch-panel infrared remote control comes with each
unit. In-the-field software upgrades are possible through in-system programmability via
the RS-232 port.
The Stage One features a machined aluminum front panel with an engraved Aragon logo and
elegant blue LED lighting that perfectly complements the available black or silver finish
options. A software controlled dimmer function allows consumers to choose full or half
brightness, as well as allowing them to completely turn off the LED lighting.
