DR.DOLITTLE

Eddie Murphy does more than just talk to the animals — he listens too! The funny man plays a famous medical doctor (for humans) who, as a child, could communicate with animals, but he'd lost the gift until a recent auto accident restored this unique talent. News of Murphy's regained ability draws animals from far and wide to him medical for treatment. The doctor's behavior leads his family and his business partner to think he's crazy, and the family even has him committed to a mental institution.

The sale of his successful medical practice to a large HMO is threatened because of a steady stream of new, non-human "patients." The voices behind the conversations he has with his animal friends include those of Chris Rock, Norm Macdonald, Albert Brooks, John Leguizamo, Jenna Elfman, Ellen DeGeneres, Garry Shandling, Julie Kavner, Gilbert Gottfried, Paul Reubens, and Reni Santoni.

Every long-term relationship faces challenges, but is love based on the person you see on the outside...or the one who exists on the inside? Oscar(R)-winner Jessica Lange (Best Actress winner for 1994's Blue Sky) and Oscar(R)-nominee Tom Wilkinson (Best Actor nominee for 2001's In the Bedroom) star in this powerful, offbeat film about a Midwestern couple whose love defies conventions. After 25 years of marriage, Roy Applewood (Wilkinson) tells his wife Irma (Lange) that he's a woman trapped in a man's body and wants a sex change. A story of love and acceptance, this portrait of a marriage explores the heart and soul of two people who have made a lifetime promise to each other, but who must redefine their relationship. In the process, they find some unexpected answers. Written for the screen and directed by Jane Anderson (Emmy(R)-nominated writer of the "1961" segment from If These Walls Could Talk 2). Widescreen.

Widescreen.
