UNIVERSAL HD PRESENTS THE 2005 DEW ACTION SPORTS TOUR First Ever Action Sports Tour To Air Entirely in HD Tour Anchors Universal HD's Friday Night Sports Block Beginning July 22 The 2005 Dew Action Sports Tour, the first-ever, season-long professional multi-sport tour in action sports will be televised live, in high-definition on Universal HD, NBC Universal's high definition channel. This marks the first time an action sports tour will be shown entirely in HD. As previously announced, NBC, NBC's HD affiliates and USA Network will broadcast 32 original hours combined of the Dew Action Sports Tour - the largest combined network and cable commitment in action sports. "We are extremely excited to add the Dew Action Sports Tour to our Universal HD programming lineup," said Dan Harrison, Senior Vice President, Cross-Network Strategy & Emerging Networks for NBC Universal Cable Entertainment. "The Tour is significant in launching our new Friday Night Sports block where viewers can enjoy more nonstop action and entertainment, all in high-def." Universal HD will televise the entire Tour with live broadcasts of the Toyota Challenge in San Jose in September and continue through October at the PlayStation Pro® in Orlando. To kick off the Tour, Universal HD will run a Dew Action Sports Tour Marathon on July 22, which launches Universal HD's Friday Night Sports programming block beginning at 9:00pm/ET. Friday nights will make Universal HD the ultimate destination where viewers can catch more of the Tour, relive rare Olympic medal moments from the 2004 Olympic Games and enjoy sports themed movies like "North Shore," "The Babe" and "Slap Shot 2." The Dew Action Sports Tour will feature the top professional action sports athletes competing in skateboarding (vert and park), BMX (vert, park, dirt) and freestyle motocross. In addition to these three primary sports, each tour stop will feature a unique "specialty comp."
