A new Russian submarine sets out for the Atlantic to be the hunted party in a series of war games to test a top secret sub technology.

This is a well known classic movie that still holds up 14 years later. The acting and screenplay is top notch. This is one of the few roles from Alec Baldwin where he plays a likeable regular guy. I had rented it about 6-9 months ago but was disappointed by the 4:3 letterbox presentation. I do see that it is available as an anamorphic which should rid the image of much of the nasties I experienced. That said the mastering is still from 1998 per www.imdb.com which is simply not up to par with movies mastered even from 2000.
