S/N (Signal to Noise Ratio)
Whether a signal is receivable is determined by the signal to noise ratio. Noise management is discussed at http://www.hdtvprimer.com/ANTENNAS/basics.html . If you do not manage the noise properly, you might be throwing away a sizable portion of the antenna signal.
