Cellular - DVD

Post by Tombanjo »

I was hesitant about renting this one because (due to its ad campaign) I thought it was yet another tired, "Don't hang up" race to the rescue flick. It actually was all of that, but extremely well done with lots of edge of the seat twists and turns. They also avoided most of those formula cliches that these kind of films tend to fall into. Sound was good but the picture suffered from the director's intentional grainy look for mood purposes. It's ok a few times but the audience eventually gets the message that these are the bad guys so we don't need darker and grainier camera shots each time they are in a scene.
