Sony HD300 Program Guide Gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by mjm76 »

I need some advice. Just last night my program guide information for DirecTV has disappeared on my Sony HD300 receiver. When I tune to a channel on DirecTV the title of the program is not in the upper left hand corner where it always has been. Then when I access the programing guide for DirecTV there is not any information on there. No channels and no program info.

Does anyone have any advice on what I should do? The unit is about a year old and I have not had any problems with it.

Please Help!

Thanks for any feedback. :)

I'm not familiar with the DirecTV unit, but, as a former DishNetwork sub, try this. Unplug the receiver and leave it unplugged for about 2 minutes. Plug it back in and it should reset itself.

Check your DirecTV menu system. There should be a "reset" option. If you do this reset, it puts the unit back to the beginning just like when you took it out of the box the first time. You will have to redo some settings, but it forces the receiver to reacquire all its info including guide data. If this fails my guess is you have a hardware failure.

Thanks for the responses and help. I was able to figure it out myself. The Sony HD300 has a DirecTV set up option, but one of the options acquires OTA channels. Well I ran this just trying anything to get my DirecTV program guide back and lo and behold it returned. I guess this actually acquires DirecTV info as well as my locals.

Thanks again for the help. :D

The funny thing about all this is that I do not know how the program guide was lost in the first place.
