Anybody have experience with "Sceptre" brand TVs?

Post by Grumpy_Bob »

I have a cousin, just a TV watcher, who was going to get a plasma TV. I noticed this sale at CostCo for $1,699 and it seems like a pretty darn good deal for somebody who is NOT a fanatic (like us).

Look for a backlight/brightness control that changes the light output of the lamp. This is not the black level (brightness) control like we have on our displays.

black level adjusts the response of the image for a 0IRE response. The back light adjusts the light output for the viewing environment.

Wow - is this a true 1080p display?

Don't you just love Costco?

When flat panel displays were recognized having a great picture as well as what most women in the household wanted for their decor, and sales really started to take off , EVERY manufacturer geared up to produce them starting last year.

The result is now an OVERSUPPLY of manufacturing capacity to make them. It was predicted earlier this summer that we will see price cuts of 30% or more this fall on all sorts of flat panels. This may be a major manufacturer hiding surplus under another name.

This looks like the start.
