International HD Transmission

Thinking ahead to either the Olympics , or possibly the World Cup (Soccer), can a live transmission in HD be received in North America from Europe or Asia?

I can't remember ever having seen a live program in HD which didn't originate here in North America.

Sure it can. The last Summer Olympics were rebroadcast in HD from Greece. Location doesn't matter since the signal is just bounced over Satellite.
