YESTERDAY WE reported that Benq has an LCD monitor on its site with a 6ms "grey to grey" response time, and it's obvious that "response time" is a can of worms that needs to be opened and examined.
We're not experts on LCD technology here at the INQ, so we've turned to some people who are real experts, those nice folk at Meko, people who really know their pixels.
Peter Gamby, principal analyst at Meko, said that the whole question of response times is confused and confusing.
He told the INQ today that even a zero millisecond response rate on a conventional LCD panel would show blurring on fast moving images. That's because, he said, of the way the backlight and LC materials work together.
