magnavox model: 37mf437b/37 37" true HD 1080p LCD probl

Post by govi »

Hi, I just bought this LCD HDTV in Sams and I just recognized two white spots spread in the upper left corner upon turning on the screen, anytime there is a black background, it is noticeable. Is this a defect or is it normal? I know of a person that happened the same thing to him in the same area with this same LCD, I aprecciate any help, thanks

Whatever this may be, I honestly believe that you would be better pleased with your
"HDTV" IF you returned it / got SAM's stk # 945050 by Samsung instead...it has essentially the same width IF that was a constraint & is only a small budget increase .... in this screen size, there IS no need of / advantage to ...1080p.

IF - IF by some chance there is NOT a furniture piece restriction, then by-all-means the
Samsung 40" LN-T405H (stk#678699) or either of the 40" Sonys (stk#784434 or 015714).

Pls do not keep what you have.

Your 'post' had said there were already some 'spots' in the corner of display... this usually means either 'stuck' pixels or 'dead' ones....for a set just purchased, that didn't seem very desirable. If it doesn't bother you, NO PROBLEM !

At least, do consider going back to SAMs w/ the receipt and buy their 3 years extra coverage for it...only $79.03. This should be done BEFORE 29 days from date of receipt.

Your symptom sounds like MURA, a Japanese term for uniformity errors related to LCD displays, and is likely part and parcel of the design and price you paid. Exchange it and if you still have the problem then choose to either live with it or follow Eli's suggestion.

As for size and 1080p that is directly related to your viewing distance and most people would not watch this display at 4.5 feet. As an example at 8 feet you won't see 1920 - you are too far away to perceive it.
