Dishnetwork VIP622 questions?

OTA & Dish 622
I too have a locals channel issue with my dish 622 - when I have my OTA antenna pluuged in to the reciever, it doesn't pick up the same number of channels vs when I have my OTA plugged directly into my hdtv input. Can anyone explain that?

I don't know what any of the info I'm about to share means. I'm simply quoting the installer and citing personal experience, so if I'm wrong, I can't explain anything about my ignorance.
"When my installer connected my Dish 622 the signal strength was only 80% of the signal strength on the 311. My installer told me that was due to the DVR's recording capability, but I'm only quoting him. I did see with my own two eyes the difference in signal strength."
I hope this adds worthwhile information to this discussion.
