I finally was able to see this. It is not something you go to work the next day and go WOW you gotta see that and it was so funny.
It is about an American actor who nails a multi million dollar endorsement contract for advertising in Japan and is sent there for the shooting and promotions, hence, Lost in Translation. It is about dealing with Japanese culture as an American and that is where some of the laughs come in.
It is something you go to work and say, saw an interesting movie last night about Japanese culture and being stranger in a strange land. I guess that might be where the boredom comes in since that is what the character deals with as well looking forward to returning home only to find in the end that home is just as boring.
I say give a try, but it's cerebral...
