These satellites use Ku-band frequencies (12 GHz) and are receivable with an 18-inch dish. See

I might add that unlike any of the other Systems mentioned, the Canadian Star Choice DBS footprint is viewable throughout all of North America and much of Central America.

I'm using a 65 cm dish in Central Mexico to pick up the signals from
Star Choice's main satellite.

Star Choice recently launched a new satellite which they should be turning on this fall (2004) that will bring 6 to 8 HDTV signals to the same coverage area, oh and for no extra charge.

The other three DBS systems mentioned above don't cover that much of Mexico, let alone Central America
