Machinist, The - DVD

Post by Richard »

Trevor Reznick works in a machine shop and is suffering nearly one year of insomnia. and severe weight loss bordering on the dangerous. One day he meets Ivan at the shop. While helping a coworker setup a machine he is distracted by Ivan and accidently turns the machine on injuring the coworker. During the investigation he comes to find out that nobody has ever heard of an Ivan working at the shop leaving Trevor to figure out who this Ivan is or has he driven himself insane.

Christian Bale as Trevor turns in a great performance and literally lost all the weight necessary to look like he just came out of a concentration camp, incredible!

There is quite a bit of trivia and references to a novel by Dostoevsky that dovetails with the art of this film. I recommend you check this out after the film as it borders on being a spoiler for the experience you are about to have.

And this film is all about art! For the most part we had a difficult time figuring out what was going on just like our lead character Trevor, kudos to the director. The last 5 minutes of this film pulls it altogether for a shocking conclusion that had me rewinding the film and events in my mind.

A bit gory, may not play well with mixed company but none the less Highly Recommended!
