Which new 1080P display?

I've heard some stories about some of the newer models of televisions, Mits
in particular, being a real bear to calibrate. Anyone have any opinions on
which of the new 1080p sets be they DLP, LCD RP, LCOS or DILA are the most
calibration friendly?

Unfortunately there are not any stand out choices at the moment due to one flaw or another. If you can find last years Samsung HLP series with the 1326 firmware you are golden. Even the first 1314 version is very close to perfect. While the green primary is too green I would still rank it quite well for videophile apps; that is the only real flaw. The 1324 clips the analog but if DVI/HDMI via a scaler is your app you are golden again. These comments relate to the 720P DVI/HDMI input only.

I did receive PRELIMINARY comments from a reviewer about the the new Sony SXRD but have yet to quiz him on details like does it have the necessary controls to properly calibrate one scan rate and what about 1080P. Hopefully there will be multiple calibrations available to cover both 1080I (if the internal scaler is decent) and 1080P but as always you should budget a scaler if you need it.

I did read that like the FPTV version the auto iris can be turned off or on... on should be really cool in dark room applications!

Based on what I saw at CEDIA and the technical points being met it could be a real winner for this season!
