HD 10-250 Question - audio 'doubling" or echoing"

I'm now on my fourth unit for a variety of reasons. One reason is the audio 'doubling" or echoing" I am getting frequently on recordings. I don't know if it happens live because I never watch live.

Since this audio effect has happened with all of the units, I'm starting to think that maybe it's my processor (DUH!).

Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

Thanks for the in depth response Ken. I guess that would expalin the frequent video drop outs I get. They take the form of a momentary black screen and seems to happen on HD shows only, though I can't be sure of that. They don't happen at the same time as the audio effect.

Since reading your post I have been paying more attention to the echoing I hear. While it usually happens within two seconds of a dropout, on rare occasions it is delayed by a much as 30 seconds, typically when there is a lot of

Last night's recording of Desperate Housewives was filled with little video problems. ABC seems to have the most problems, as Boston Legal has them too, (along with their obnoxiously liberal drumbeat.) On the other hand, HBO seems free of these video and audio problems. You don't get more talky then Deadwood.

Anyway, it sure seems like this HD10-250 is a clumsy first step into the HD recording pool. Now that D* is through with TiVo, should we expect even worse?

My point was it is the dropouts that cause the echoes, while the program content affects how long the resulting overruns will be delayed. It sounds like your real problem is you need a better antenna. -Ken
