Syntax Olevia 26HVX not widescreen?

it is a 16:9 tv.
i have it set to 16:9 in the settings.
yet when i put in a dvd it still chops off about 1" on both top and bottom.
what am i doing wrong? :?

Your DVD is probably 2:35. That is the probably correct original aspect ratio for that movie. Take a look at the box that it came in, it will probably say 2:35.

hmm. i assumed that all dvds listed as widescreen were 16:9.
do you know of a couple of dvds that are definitely 16:9 that I can use to test?

Try Good Will Hunting, LA Story, Midnight Cowboy, Platoon. They are all 1:85 and will fill your screen. Better still, why don't you give me an idea owhat you have and I can tell you what is 2:35 or 1:85.

All widescreen movies are just that. It's just that some are a bit wider than 16:9
