TIVO SERIES 3 and the New Directv HD Channels

Post by bfitzgerald »

Is there any way to "hook" a TIVO 3 to a Directv HD Receiver to obtain the functionality of TIVO? Apparently I can't receive the 21 new channels with my existing TIVO unit.

Sure - if you don't want them in HD.

Edit - that assumes you have an A/V input on the Tivo. Not sure if the HR10-250 has one or not.

'Morning bfitzgerald and akirby -

I thought all these 'posts' had said that the 5LNB antenna plus their newest
Reveivers ( VIP-722 for DISH, Latest one for DIRECT TV ) were necessary to pickup these ?

I just had DirecTV upgrade my TIVO HR10-250 to their new DirecTV Plus HD DVR and the user interface is awful. At least the learning curve is steep.

Anybody know of a document that eases the pain for people who have used Wish List and Season Pass and such features in the past? The off-air antenna adjustment has to be done without the tone, which makes it more awkward too.

I'm sure my list of gripes will increase for the next few days. I'd sure like to have gotten an upgraded TIVO instead of what DirecTV provided.

I have had a HR20-100 now for about 4 months. Spend some time with it and give it a chance. It actually has just about everything the 10-250 had plus some more. This link is to a "survival guide" and other good info.
