DIGITAL TV GROUP TO SPONSOR BROADBAND 2000
The Digital TV Group has confirmed its sponsorship of Broadband 2000. Organised by Phillips Business Information, Broadband 2000 will be held at the Palais de Congres, Paris, October 30 - November 1. The Digital TV Group works within the UK and internationally to ensure the successful implementation of DVB, and is increasingly focussing on convergence. Broadband 2000 is a major annual showcase for DTV, satellite, cable, ADSL, and other broadband technologies. Attendees will include senior management and technical staff across all operating platforms whose business models include a strong broadband strategy. The show brings together cutting-edge digital technologies and applications with the operators that will bring digitally delivered services to their customers. Conference streams on digital television, broadband delivery, multimedia via satellite and broadband technology deployment will run throughout a three-day exhibition. Martin Cook, Marketing Support Manager of the Digital TV Group, said; "Broadband 2000 will be an excellent forum for all those involved in the individual technologies or the wider issue of convergence." Peter Gaskell, Managing Director of Phillips' Global Media Group, commented; "Broadband 2000 follows on from the pioneering work of our intelligence briefing, Inside Digital TV, in analysing the business implications of developments in digital technology. We are delighted to have the support of the Digital TV Group in this mission. "The Digital TV Group's invaluable work in acting as a technical clearing house in the implementation of digital television means it is able to bring extensive and relevant experience to the topics under discussion at Broadband 2000 and in particular to our DTV 2000 stream." Gaskell added. Formed in 1995, the Digital Television Group was established to adapt the DVB-T standards for UK implementation. Now with over 100 member companies representing all aspects of the digital TV industry, the DTG is seen as a major international reference base able to co-ordinate solutions to often difficult technical or political issues. The DTG's website, <www.dtg.org.uk>, is regarded as the key site for digital television at all levels of interest and involvement.
