2001 International CES to Showcase Latest in Digital Television

2001 INTERNATIONAL CES TO SHOWCASE LATEST IN DIGITAL TELEVISION
Arlington, Va., November 13, 2000 - As digital television (DTV) sales to dealers continue double-digit growth, the 2001 International CES is the place to experience all the latest DTV products. The 2001 CES-Your Source for Workstyle and Lifestyle TechnologySM will be held Saturday, January 6 through Tuesday, January 9 in Las Vegas, Nev. "We have several exhibitors slated to showcase the next generation of DTV products," said Karen Chupka, vice president of events and conferences for the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). "Consumer interest in DTV is increasing every day - and the number of products and features available to consumers is, too. CES is the venue for anyone in the business of DTV. Attendees will see the products and hear from the people that are driving the DTV transition." CEA Market Research and HDTV Magazine recently surveyed DTV owners and general consumers about DTV. The results demonstrate that consumer satisfaction with the technology is high and interest is growing. Additionally, figures from factory sales to dealers for digital television (DTV) displays during the first nine months of 2000 were 368,947, nearly seven times the number of displays sold during the same period in 1999, according to CEA estimates. The North and South Halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center and the Las Vegas Hilton will house the audio/video and home theater/home systems exhibitors and provide attendees the opportunity to see the latest integrated sets, set-top and converter boxes and DTV displays. Attendees will learn more about the new industry definitions (and corresponding logos) for standard definition (SDTV), enhanced definition (EDTV) and high-definition (HDTV) products. CES again provide HDTV programming throughout the show floor. Various industry leaders will be exhibiting at this year's CES. Daewoo, Fujitsu, JVC, Panasonic, Philips CE, Pioneer, Samsung, Sanyo Fisher, Sharp, Silicon, Texas Instruments, Toshiba, Yamaha and Zenith are expected to showcase the next generation of DTV products.
