NAB2001 "DTV Store" Features Digital Television Innovations from Over Twenty Leading Companies

ATSC, CEA and NAB "DTV Store" Offers DTV Technology Showcase Plus Daily Prize Drawings

Arlington, Va., April 23, 2001 - Celebrating the dynamic digital television marketplace, the DTV Store at the upcoming NAB2001 Convention will feature a full variety and some of the latest products and information available today from over twenty leading companies. A unique partnership creation of the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC), the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), the DTV Store will be conveniently located in the Las Vegas Convention Center's Grand Lobby. NAB2001 is being held Saturday April 21 through Thursday April 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The DTV Store will not actually offer products for sale, but will demonstrate innovations in digital television and feature daily prize drawings. Exhibitors include, among others:

The DTV Store will feature televisions (integrated sets), monitors, stand-alone/set-top receivers, PC solutions and antennas.

"TV manufacturers have really stepped up to the plate to improve DTV quality, enhance affordability and produce a wide variety of DTV monitors and receivers over the past few years," said CEA President and CEO Gary Shapiro. " We are very excited to showcase just some of these products and we expect a good deal of interest in the DTV Store."

"With 186 DTV stations now on the air, it's critical that the broadcast and consumer electronics industries work closely together to make DTV successful," said NAB President and CEO Edward O. Fritts. "The DTV Store exhibit at NAB2001 will be an exciting demonstration of the DTV service being offered to consumers."

The DTV Store random daily prize drawings will include large-screen DTV monitors by Hitachi, Philips and Sony, a Zenith DVD player and DTV receiver, Jensen TV/AM/FM antennas, a Dual-LNB DIRECTV System and the Grand Prize of a Mitsubishi 73" HD Upgradeable Diamond Series PTV with HD Satellite Receiver. Entry forms will be available at the DTV Store and in NAB conference bags. All entries must be submitted at the DTV Store where full rules and restrictions will be available. Daily drawing times will be posted at the DTV Store. Winners will be announced daily.
