HDTV Magazine October 2003 Prime Time Grid: PBS HD Schedule, ESPN Sports, and Grid Guide Expansion Plans
2003
Summary
HDTV Magazine's October 2003 prime time grid lists PBS high-definition and widescreen programming, NFL and college football schedules on ESPN HD, and new channels including INHD and INHD2. Editor Dale discusses plans to expand the grid guide into a standalone 24-hour, three-time-zone product with a proposed $5 annual subscription fee.
With the
addition of new channels, such as INHD and INHD2, you will find the "channel
selector" below more and more useful in guiding you to those services you
are able to receive. This will help you bypass tiresome scrolling. By clicking on the
"Return To Top" you will be returned to this area in preparation for your next
selection.

Dear Readers:
Several have written in saying they liked the grid guide and to
them it was even preferable to this version. But that is three out of 6000. I have been
considering making this a lower costing standalone product extended to a 24 hour period
serving three time zones. But the cost for doing that is not inconsiderate. I believe two
full time people would be required. That has to be at least $100,000/yr cost to HDTV
Magazine after it is all said and done. But we are gaining some fame and the web site is
being approached by as many as 50,000 new people a day. If we had something on the order
of a $5/annual charge for web or email access to the grid guide it may well be that some
of those 50,000 would join us. Price would not be a barrier. I see several ways of keeping
the same graphical sense about, in fact even more attractive.
Of course, if you learn to navigate with this guide you have quite
quick access to all of your programming without the hassle of scrolling. Did you know that
by clicking on the network icons at the top that will take you to the network banner and
their programming? If you click on the network banner your are instantly returned to the
"channel selector." It is a fast and efficient system. Still, if
there is enough support showing for the Grid Guide I will take the steps to insure it can
be done. While I would include the Grid Guide with our annual members it is a new product
and so I would like to charge the nominal fee to those that were in the 'lifetime for one
charge' group. Let me know if you are interested in this grid guide enough so to launch
its initial support. I personally think it is a winner.
