Elsewhere, Josh (Bradley Whitford) mediates a post-Civil War fracas between a representative from North Carolina who demands that her Connecticut counterpart return her state's copy of the Bill of Rights -- stolen long ago by a Union soldier -- and C.J. (Allison Janney) is flustered after meeting a Pentagon scientist whose security innovations could threaten privacy. En route to the funeral, Bartlet shares sobering thoughts with two other men who appreciate the weight of the Oval Office -- Speaker Walker (guest star John Goodman) and ex-President Newman (guest star James Cromwell, "Babe"). Diana Douglas guest stars as former first lady Libby Lassiter. John Spencer, Richard Schiff, Dule Hill, Janel Moloney and Joshua Malina also star.

"Crash" Davis (Costner) is an aging minor league pitcher closing in on a season record, as well as the heart of baseball-loving super-fan Annie Savoy (Susan Sarandon). Getting in the way of both, however, is lunkheaded phenom "Nuke" Laloosh (Tim Robbins), a talented newcomer bound for the majors and Annie's affections, which are only given to one player each season.
