Filmmaker Jim Jarmusch ("Dead Man") brings his distinctively cool sensibility to three separate yet related tales set in the land of Elvis. At one of Memphis's seedier budget hotels, a pair of Japanese tourists (Masatoshi Nagase, Youki Kudoh) arrives on a pilgrimage to the rock and roll Mecca; an Italian widow (Nicoletta Braschi) spends an unexpectedly eventful night before returning to Rome; and three petty hoods (Joe Strummer, Rick Aviles and Steve Buscemi) hole up after a robbery. An original and hauntingly romantic slice of real Americana.
