But after meeting up with C.J., the girls find themselves at a familiar location that was beloved by Paul. Meanwhile, Rory continues to pine for Rachel, who confesses her true feelings for him. Country singer Mac Davis guest stars as a guitar man at a truck stop diner.

"Friends in Low Places"
To prove that he and Alex are just like regular people after being chastised by his co-workers, Patrick takes his famous celebrity girlfriend to fellow teacher Kevin's (Wayne Knight) barbecue -- and Alex turns out to be the hit of the party. But Patrick begins to sense that his friends are taking advantage of Alex's celebrity when she agrees to have the wedding of Principal Harris' (Dave Foley) daughter at her house, and the wedding guests end up paying more attention to Alex than to the bride and groom. Amy Pietz also guest stars as Alex's publicist, Samantha.

bonds with other fiancés who feel excluded from the gift registry process, and Mace and Simon's attempt to assemble a piece of furniture goes well — almost.

Sara is skeptical about the pairing because she believes that Darren is obsessed with her. Seeing Alex and Darren together prompts Todd (Jeff B. Davis) to finally admit his feelings for Alex. Meanwhile, Peter (John Larroquette) is beyond frustrated when ne'er-do-well Tim (Tyler Francavilla) is diagnosed as suffering from stress.

Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) is distracted by his crush on Charlotte (guest star Laura Linney, "Mystic River",) his newly hired matchmaker; but soon despairs when he discovers she has a handsome and rugged boyfriend (guest star Aaron Eckhart, "Paycheck"). Roz (Peri Gilpin) convinces him to visit a local singles bar where he's met by the flirtatious Kim (guest star Jennifer Tilly, "Liar, Liar"). John Mahoney, David Hyde Pierce and Jane Leeves also star. Wendy Malick ("Just Shoot Me") guest stars.

"Lowdown"
When a Bronx A.D.A. is found strangled to death in a compromising position while parked on a known hooker stroll, Detectives Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Benson (Mariska Hargitay) examine the prosecutor's recent cases in search of any violent defendents with grudge. However, when DNA evidence raises questions as to the victim's sexual preference, the detectives are left examining a different set of motives for this murder. Dann Florek, Richard Belzer, Ice-T and Diane Neal also star.

Meanwhile, frustrated because she can never get Rory on the phone and by the nonstop work involved in getting the Dragonfly ready to open, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) first accuses Sookie (Melissa McCarthy) of not pulling her weight, then turns to Luke (Scott Patterson) for help and advice. Finally, Richard (Edward Herrmann) is infuriated when he and Lorelai both get a taste of the nastiness that Gran (guest-star Marion Ross) usually reserves for Emily (Kelly Bishop).

"Spirit in the Night"
The gang hits the road to Charlotte where Brooke (Sophia Bush) is determined to win first place at the annual cheerleading competition, but when one of her squad falls ill, Peyton (Hilarie Burton) begs Haley (Bethany Joy Lenz) to step into the cheerleader's shoes for a day. Meanwhile, after Whitey (Barry Corbin) assigns Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) and Nathan (James Lafferty) to the same room, tempers flare and Haley is caught in the middle.
