Saturday Night at the Movies: The Legend of Bagger Vance

In The Legend of Bagger Vance, Oscar nominee Will Smith stars as a mysterious and insightful stranger who comes into the life of Rannulph Junuh (Damon), a World War I veteran carrying the burden of being the only survivor of his squad. Rannulph, a former teen golf champion, returns home a recluse, seeking absolution at the bottom of a bottle. He is interrupted when he is pressured to take part in a Savannah golf tournament put on by his former fiancée (Theron). If the tournament fails, her late father's golf course will be taken over by the bank. With the help of Bagger, Rannulph begins a course of recovery - his skill and his life. Real-life golf legends Walter Hagen and Bobby Jones are portrayed by Bruce McGill and Joel Gretsch, respectively.

8:00PM ET/7:00 C
The Patriot

Mel Gibson stars in this action drama as a widowed father who is suddenly pulled back into the savagery of battle when his family is threatened by the American Revolution. In 1776 in South Carolina, Benjamin Martin (Gibson), a former hero of the French and Indian War, is now a widower and devoted father of seven children. He rebukes those who advocate war against England's King George III over taxation, so when his son Gabriel (Heath Ledger) enlists despite his father's forbiddance, Martin is left at home to raise his other six kids while the war rages around him - until the battle literally lands in his backyard.
