Saturday Night at the Movies: The Legend of Bagger Vance
In The Legend of Bagger Vance, Oscar nominee Will Smith stars as a
mysterious and insightful stranger who comes into the life of Rannulph
Junuh (Damon), a World War I veteran carrying the burden of being the
only survivor of his squad. Rannulph, a former teen golf champion,
returns home a recluse, seeking absolution at the bottom of a bottle.
He is interrupted when he is pressured to take part in a Savannah golf
tournament put on by his former fiancée (Theron). If the tournament
fails, her late father's golf course will be taken over by the bank.
With the help of Bagger, Rannulph begins a course of recovery - his
skill and his life. Real-life golf legends Walter Hagen and Bobby
Jones are portrayed by Bruce McGill and Joel Gretsch, respectively.

taxation, so when his son Gabriel (Heath Ledger) enlists despite his
father's forbiddance, Martin is left at home to raise his other six
