Anyone who grew up in a small American town and yearned to escape will find much to enjoy in Texas-born writer-director Tim McCanlies's witty audience pleaser. Four 11-year-old friends make a vow to leave their tiny West Texas town of Dancer once they graduate high school. When the day finally arrives, the townsfolk watch and make bets on whether they will stick by their words. For his directorial debut, McCanlies was blessed with talented ensemble acting from his four leads (Breckin Meyer, Ethan Embry, Peter Facinelli and Eddie Mills).
