ABC SUNDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIES
City Slicker
Billy Crystal, Daniel Stern and Bruno Kirby are three friends from New Jersey
who decide to ride roughshod through their mid-life crisis literally by
hopping on horses, punching cows and generally escaping civilization on a cattle drive in
the oldest West they can find.
Jack Palance, who won an Oscar for his performance, is featured as Curly, who really is
the kind of old cowhand the boys are trying to be. Patricia Wettig is a much-put-upon wife
who can't exactly understand why her salesman-husband suddenly wants to be a cowboy and
Helen Slater is a woman who wants to do a little range-riding herself.
The 1991 production was directed by Ron Underwood, directed by O. Nicholas Brown and
written by Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel.
This film carries a TV-PG,D,L,S parental guideline.

Without A Trace
"Under God"
After the murder of a notorious drug dealer, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green
(Jesse L. Martin) discover how much damage the deceased inflicted on the neighborhood --
and Briscoe is especially disturbed because the case reminds him of his own daughter's
horrible death at the hands of a drug trafficker. When an unlikely suspect confesses, the
unusual predicament leads to a tricky trial as A.D.A. McCoy (Sam Waterston) and A.D.A.
Southerlyn (Elisabeth Rohm) must mount arguments against a religious defense. S. Epatha
Merkerson and Fred Thompson also star.

Breakdown
Kurt Russell, J.T. Walsh and Kathleen Quinlan star in this
thriller about an ordinary married couple who get caught up in a world of intense terror
when their car breaks down while they are driving through the vast, desolate desert
terrain of the American Southwest.
Traveling cross-country, the Taylors opt for a scenic route, but their SUV breaks down
miles from the nearest human habitation. Help appears on the horizon in the form of an
18-wheeler truck. The driver, Red Barr, is an over-the-road trucker, immaculate and
professional, who seems to harken back to a time when long-haul truckers were
"knights of the road." He offers Jeff and Amy a ride to Belle's Diner, the
nearest place along the lonely stretch of highway. Amy agrees to go with him and call a
tow truck from the diner while Jeff waits with the car.
Shortly after the truck has gone, Jeff locates the problem with his car -- a loose wire --
and is able to fix it. But, when he drives on to Belle's Diner to catch up with Amy, she
has disappeared. Although Belle's is not crowded, the bartender and the few customers
claim never to have seen either Amy or Red, and Jeff's anxiety is heightened by his
gnawing suspicion that they aren't telling him the truth.
Back on the road, Jeff searches for Red's truck, but when he finally finds it, the
ethically challenged Good Samaritan trucker denies ever having seen him or Amy. When the
police are brought into the picture, they are skeptical of Jeff's story. With no one to
help him, Jeff continues on his determined, increasingly desperate search for his wife,
who has vanished into the immense, sun-backed emptiness where the law doesn't seem to
reach.

PROBATION OFFICER SLAYING LEADS DETECTIVES TO CROOKED CLAN OF IRISH GYPSIES -- The murder
of a female probation officer (guest star Angela Reed) leads Detectives Goren (Vincent
D'Onofrio) and Eames (Kathryn Erbe) to suspect her boyfriend, a college anthropology
professor, or his delinquent teenaged son who reported to the victim -- but their
attention soon turns to the dead woman's vagabond family of Irish gypsies. The detectives
connect a few dots and discover that the clannish family's lifestyle was to keep moving
from one petty scam to another, a lifestyle that the
probation officer vehemently opposed and intended to change for at least one relative.

IT'S MURDER FOR HIRE WHEN A HUSBAND IS GUNNED DOWN AT HOME -- When a local contractor is
found on his living room floor shot in the head in an apparent robbery gone awry,
Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) believe the homicide to be
the work of a professional and set their sights on the victim's well-kept young bride
(guest star Gretchen Egolf) and her alleged lover (guest star Bobby Cannavale) as the
masterminds behind this conspiracy. The case takes a strange turn when A.D.A. Southerlyn
(Elisabeth Rohm) discovers the supposed hit man was residing in federal prison at the time
of the murder, slightly hindering Executive A.D.A. McCoy's (Sam Waterston) prosecution.

THE WB
NETWORK BLAZES THE HI-DEFINITION TRAIL, WITH MORE THAN DOUBLE THE HDTV OFFERINGS FROM A
YEAR AGO
NETWORK TO BROADCAST 11 1/2 HOURS OF
HI-
DEFINITION PROGRAMMING PER WEEK
Programs Shot in High Definition are "Smallville,"
"Everwood," "Gilmore Girls," "Tarzan," "One Tree
Hill," "Angel," "Reba," "What I Like About You,"
"All About The Andersons,"
"Like
Family" And "Run Of The House"
BURBANK, CA - This fall, The WB
Network takes another major step toward the future of broadcast television. For the
2003-2004 season, The WB will broadcast 11 1/2 hours, or 77% of its total 15 hours, in
HDTV, more than twice the total from a year ago, it was announced today by Jed Petrick,
The WB's President and Chief Operating Officer.
This season's hi-definition offerings
will include broadcast dramas SMALLVILLE, EVERWOOD (including its EasyView airing
on Sunday), GILMORE GIRLS, TARZAN (also during Sunday's EasyView), ONE TREE
HILL, ANGEL and season-two episodes of "Smallville" in the SMALLVILLE:
BEGINNINGS package. In addition to dramas, the WB will also present the comedies
REBA, WHAT I LIKE ABOUT YOU, ALL ABOUT THE ANDERSONS, LIKE FAMILY and RUN OF THE
HOUSE in hi-def. This aggressive slate, which is sponsored by RCA, offers
hi-definition programming on each WB broadcast night.
"We know, and Magna Global
confirmed, that The WB has the largest concentration of upscale young adults in primetime
network television," Mr. Petrick said. "Those upscale young WB viewers are
also early adopters of new technology. We realize how vital it is to embrace
high-definition production, the most exciting thing to happen in television
entertainment since black and white gave way to color broadcasts. We also understand
it is important to our local affiliates, and to the local cable systems on which they are
carried, to have the availability of this high definition programming."
"We are happy to be able to
broadcast the majority of our WB programming in high definition," added Pat
Mullen, Tribune Broadcasting president. This announcement from our partners at The WB
gives us an increased presence as a provider of desirable high definition content."
Tribune Broadcasting stations in 19
major markets provide more than 50% of the total delivery of The WB Network nationwide.
The WB has increased the amount of
1080-I HDTV substantially for the 2003-2004 season," said Hal Protter, The WB's
senior vice president, distribution development. "Cable operators have
expressed an interest in compelling HD programming and this network schedule provides
that, through original scripted series."
