The original Big Three--ABC, NBC % CBS--will put our HD receivers thru their paces Saturday, and for many in crisp clear OTA (that's over-the-air folks) “Live” HDTV.

This Week in HDSports sees a great Saturday. ABC Sports hits the Ice with a late announced entry--HD Stanley Cup; CBS has itÂ’s HD-Golf and NBC Sports with this weekÂ’s most compelling HD Sports story, the 132nd running of the Preakness Stakes from Pimlico.

Settle down now, letÂ’s round out the rest of this week's “Live HD” Sports in our minds. Yeah, Cool, we get 6 MLBaseball Games, 3 more Golf, 3 more Hockey, 2 MLS Soccer, 1 AFL Football & 1 PPV Boxing. Whew, I count 19 Live events in HDSports (Ed: note probably missed some) Most folks can receive these major events, some are on different HD ServicesÂ….  maybe someday we will ALL have access to all of the feeds.  More HDSports notes at bottom of this column.

Pass this along to your sports fan friends

This weeks line-up

Thursday:
FoxSNet HD SWest 1PM, jumps up with MLBASBALL
Texas Rangers visit Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Next up itÂ’s beautiful PGA Golf on USA-HD, (INHD) 4pm, the EDS Byron Nelson Championship. Hockey is getting big on HD lately, 7pm ESPN brings us TampaBay Lightning visit the Philadelphia Flyers.  ESPN-HD SC Playoff hockey is sponsored by Nextel. (no pitch, just never noticed it B4)

Friday:
Tee Off time: 3:00PM USA-HD, teaming up with CBS Sports, brings us Live HD Golf Byron Nelson Championship. Beaming right to your HD theatre from TPC Four Seasons Resort Las Colinas & Cottonwood Valley Course, Irving, Texas. This must be a great event, in that Byron Nelson was one of the greatest to ever play Golf. He was supposed to have invented the Modern G. swing… hhmm well lets see, in 1945 his stroke average was <68 for 3-4 weeks, NOT… that was for the whole darn Year! Oh yeah +he won 11 events in a row. A great ‘link’ (oops) I dug up for Golf fans: http://www.bourn-golf-club.co.uk/tgtime.htm

Anyway should be great HD Golf action from a great Golf Facility. Next 7PM on INHD, their first of three MLBaseball games Baltimore OÂ’s host the Tough (until last year, weird, eh?), CA Angels! Another great look at BaltimoreÂ’s Camden Yards.

Saturday:
Get your stuff done Early!!! Biggest day of the week for HDS. First itÂ’s, 12 NOON ABC NationWide StanleyCup HD
Coverage, Tampa Bay Lightning coming to striking distance of the Philly Flyers, VOOM is also carrying this HD Match. CBS @ 3PM tees off again with HD Golf three hours from Irving, TX. Have to hand it to CBS for their Golf HD action, itÂ’s not cheap (laugh) for CBS week-after-week to do 4 days of Live HD Golf coverage.

Now my Favorite for this week: 5PM, NBC-Sports HD broadcast of big time Horse racing from Pimlico Race Course, MD, this Race is drawing a lot of attention, as it should. ItÂ’s the little horse that could, and heÂ’s doing it, this will be drama in HD Sports, Can he pull it off??? Smarty Jones is undefeated going in, post a Kentucky Derby HDTV win! Good Luck to Owners Roy & Pat Chapman, Trainer John Servis & Jockey Stewart Elliott.

Saturday continues: INHD 7:30PM has their AFL Arena Football, I like it, itÂ’s fast! We see the Carolina Cobras @ the  Philadelphia Soldiers. 1 hour later (8:30PM) HDNet has their first of 2 MLS match ups this week: San Jose Earthquakes @ the Dallas Burn. The names of these ‘new leagueÂ’ teams!?! WOW. I used to live in {PorterRanch CA, shake&bake we called it!} WHAT ??? HBO PPV has Boxing; you look  up the time, OK (9:30)

Sunday:
Oh finally
: starts late 3PM on CBS it’s 3 hours of Final round coverage, the Byron Classic. Had enough Golf, OK next on the HDSports radar, INHD 4PM, MLBaseball. It’s the National League Cubs visiting the Padres at Petco Park. Next, ESPN “like HD is no big deal!” HD @ 8:00pm ET, Sunday Night Baseball: Anaheim (what H’pen last Year??) Angels vs Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore, MD, USA

Monday:
Time to take care of the chores that we skipped over the weekend. Dark, NO HDTVÂ…   L  I will keep looking..

Tuesday:
Steady as she goes, INHD 8PM has their 3rd game this week & itÂ’s Cool. LA Dodgers visit the Philadelphia Phillies

Wednesday:
Here ya go HDSports fans. FoxSNetHD SW Geez enough of the letters allready, has their HD MLBaseball: Astros @ the Marlins pre game starts at 5:30PM, Big one here folks get home by 7:30PM ESPN-HD for the Stanley Cup Conference Finals Game 6. Do Not forget HDNet. They have special Wednewday night MLS Soccer Los Angeles Galaxy @ DC United.  (Note: Fox S Net HD SW show S.west sports report & Totally Nascar listed also, after the game, lucky folks who get the feed)

The usual disclaimer: I believe all these programs are HDTV “Live” broadcasts.  Start times are all ET, best available at press time. Cheers. PVRs etc. Check your local listings.

Future HDSports News:

VOOM is doing TNT-HD games on an un-scheduled basis.

A good reader, Hugh, mentioned TWCable is adding TNT-HD.. soon

Comcast in North CA is set to add FoxSNetHD ‘regional’… soon
