TRIVENI DIGITAL ANNOUNCES STREAMBRIDGE REAL-TIME PSIP TRANSLATOR FOR ATSC TRANSPORT STREAMS
Automatic Updating of Pre-encoded ATSC Bitstreams Provides DTV Viewers With Accurate and Dependable Tuning and Electronic Program Guides Las Vegas (National Association of Broadcasters Convention), April 23, 2001-Triveni Digital, the leading solutions provider of high performance and real-time digital television (DTV) datacasting solutions announces the StreamBridge PSIP (Program and System Information Protocol) Translator as the first of several products to utilize Triveni Digital's flexible StreamBridge platform. StreamBridge is designed for broadcasters and cable headends which receive pre-encoded ATSC bitstreams and need to change the bitstream's PSIP information. In the transition to DTV, full-power stations re-broadcasting ATSC bitstreams received from either an outside source or through their own centralcasting operations, as well as low-power repeater stations, must provide correct ATSC-compliant PSIP data in order for DTV receivers to tune into programs correctly and display programming information through their electronic program guides (EPGs). Triveni Digital's StreamBridge is the perfect solution for broadcast facilities re-transmitting incoming ATSC DTV programs on a different channel, providing automatic around-the-clock (24/7) PSIP information modification and ATSC standards compliance verification. Program information includes key information about the broadcaster's channel line-up and upcoming programming, including program event names, start and end times, and content advisory ratings. StreamBridge is the reliable and cost-effective, way to process incoming PSIP data from any ATSC transport stream received via satellite, fiber, cable, or over-the-air in real-time and correctly according to PSIP specifications. This insures DTV receivers will properly tune to channels and/or receive the correct program guide information. StreamBridge tests the incoming signal for ATSC PSIP table timing compliance and automatically logs errors. StreamBridge then identifies specific channel information, modifies channel and tuning fields, and insures compliance with the ATSC A/65 standard for outputs an ATSC-compliant transport stream with revised PSIP channel and frequency information. SMPTE-310M and DVB ASI interfaces enable StreamBridge to operate in a variety of broadcast environments. StreamBridge's user-friendly, low maintenance, and automated design makes it the versatile DTV broadcasting tool for ATSC bitstream re-transmission and repeater stations. Changes can be made and are automatically detected while the system is running. StreamBridge is upgradeable with close ties to other Triveni Digital products including GuideBuilder, for ease in PSIP management and control. Ethernet TCP/IP LAN connection allows the systems operator access to configuration, status and diagnostic information from local or remote locations via Windows NT tools.
