PS3 Sales Up

PS3 sales took off because of the lower-priced device (notice it was *not* introduced in North America) undercutting standalone BD players in both price and capability (in terms of capability for that price). Note that the PS3 remains the top-selling BD player in North America (by a wide margin), and Sony's increased advertising blitz on the PS3's BD/DVD playback capabilities over the Yule holidays. How many of those low-end PS3s are being bought by households that are not into gaming at all (in short, they are being used strictly as BD/DVD players)?
