With no intent to reopen an old bitter debate, but in these times of s****y customer service, I just want to tell you how impressed I am with Toshiba. Out of the blue, in yesterday's mail, came an A3/D3 Firmware update disc 4.0. It didn't say what it does - never does, actually - but with over a million units in use, this update had to cost them at least a million dollars. That seems pretty remarkable to me considering the units are for all practical purposes obsolete and "no longer supported". So I think they at least deserve a big public, thank you....

So, Thank You, Toshiba.......

It doesn't get sent out to everybody and is typically only sent when requested by the owner. Did you request one in the past?

Toshiba seems to be a company with real guts and real ideals. They lost a lot here....and still are taking care of their customer base, better than many ever do. FYI, they just spent $500m to develope a new MRI type of system...that is profoundly better than previous systems. They are to be admired.

Richard,

Yes I requested the first one back in December when I bought it. But I was certainly surprised to get the recent update without further prompting.
