Universal remotes are great for getting rid of the clutter of remotes most of us deal with. They are also relatively inexpensive compared to the original remote that came with the product. These are highly recommended for everyday use and it is suggested you take the batteries out of your original remotes and tuck them away safely in case you need the special functions that typically only the original remote will provide.
Bear in mind that most TVs will require the original remote not only for setup but also for servicing and calibrating the TV.
If you buy a universal remote that is the same brand as your TV then most likely you will have all the necessary buttons to access all the features. If not then you will likely only be able to control simple aspects of everyday use such as power, volume and channel. To change settings of the product will require the original remote that came with your TV.
