mitsubishi wd-57831 brightness problem

Post by C64 »

Turned on tv today and it seemed to lose brightness and it doesn't seem as sharp.Have settings on brillant.tried different inputs, same problem.the blue screen doesn't seem bright either.Tried reset, video format and unplugged tv for 15min.Talked to customer service for 30min.service tech scheduled.I just hope he sees the brightness difference. I been watching this tv for almost a year know, haven't changed any settings. You know how when you first turn the tv on and it takes a couple seconds to get bright.well it just stays at that initial stage when first is turned on.

Probably a lamp. My 57731 just had the lamp go out after only about 200-300 hours. If you bought an extended warranty with it that includes lamp replacement, I'd go ahead and order one. Chances are the tech won't have one on him when he gets there.

btw, has the yellow lamp light on the front (lower-right) been blinking? This is your lamp timer.

Hope that helps,

no blinking light.I also did a error code check.code 12 no errors.i've never had any problems with the lamp.no warning lights.Working fine last night, today its darker. What I mean by darker is it looks fine to somebody not use to my tv. but to me there's a brightness difference. There's not much of a change between normal and Vibrant setting. Its like its stuck in theater mode.

I've got a WD-57831 with the same problem and it's NOT the lamp causing it. Did anyone ever come up with a solution and/or suggestion on how to approach this?

Thanks for your time.
