TV: Fuses

Post by HD Library »

There are few TVs left with AGC and GMA snap in cylindrical fuses. TVs 7 years or older may have them. If so replace it with a fuse of the same amp rating. This is critical, do not increase the amperage rating. More than likely the new fuse will blow. The reason the fuse is there is to protect the product from internal problems not external ones so a blown fuse typically means you have a failure and need to have it serviced.

Replace these at your own risk. Sometimes one end of the fuse will still have power. HD Library cannot provide support to tell you when this may or may not be the case. The best we can provide is is keeping one hand in your pocket as explained in Grounding - hum, noise bars, interference.

For many years now TV manufacturers use solder in fuses and that means you must have the soldering equipment and skills to remove and install the part plus be able to find the part locally.
