ZENITH AND SAMSUNG PARTNER WITH
CBS TO DELIVER NETWORKS FOURTH SEASON OF PRIMETIME HDTV PROGRAMMING
Each Of CBSs 18 Primetime Dramas and Comedies To Be
Broadcast In Highest Definition Television Format

In HD As Network Continues To Lead The Industry
NEW YORK, August 28, 2002 -- CBS Television
announced today that it will offer all 18 of its primetime comedies and dramas in High
Definition in the upcoming 2002-2003 television season. This is the fourth consecutive
year CBS has broadcast the majority of its primetime schedule in HD, and the second season
that it has offered all of its scripted entertainment series in the HD digital format.
Zenith Electronics Corporation has expanded its sponsorship presence in
its second year as a CBS Primetime HD sponsor. Samsung Electronics America, which has a
history of supporting HD broadcasts of movie nights and college sports, is a new CBS
Primetime sponsor.
Together with selected CBS SUNDAY MOVIES, weekday broadcasts of the No.
1 daytime drama THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS and CBS Sports leading HD schedule, CBS
will provide an average of nearly 27 hours of HD programming per week this fall, more than
any other broadcast network.

Eighty-three of CBSs owned and affiliated
stations are currently broadcasting in digital, covering approximately 72 percent of
the nation. By the end of 2002, CBS expects to be transmitting digital programming across
more than 100 owned and affiliated stations, reaching well over 83 percent of the country.
CBS began presenting the overwhelming majority of its primetime lineup
in high definition during the 1999-2000 television season. For the last three years, CBS
has also produced the NCAA Mens Basketball Final Four and Championship Games in HD
as well as The Masters Golf tournament in HDTV. Just last week, CBS announced that for the
fourth consecutive year it would broadcast the upcoming US Open Tennis Tournament in HD.
In June 2001, CBS commenced daily weekday HD broadcasts of televisions leading
daytime drama "The Young and the Restless."
