Englewood Cliffs, NJ, January 21, 2004 -- NBC Cable Networks (NBCC)
announced that Bravo HD+ is now available to 1.4 million customers. The
announcement was made today by David Zaslav, President, NBCC.
Insight Communications will make the network available to nearly one
million subscribers in ten mid-west markets including Louisville,
Lexington, and Covington, KY; Kokomo/Lafayette,
Anderson/Noblesville, and Evansville, IN;
Springfield, Peoria, and Champaign, IL; and Columbus,
Ohio. Additional launches for Bravo HD+ include Cox Communications
(Parma, OH); GCI Cable, Inc. (Anchorage, AK); Mediacom
Broadband (Des Moines, IA); Patriot Media Communications
(Somerset, NJ); Blue Ridge Communications (Stroudsburg, PA); and
Service Electric Cablevision (Sundbury, PA).
"Bravo HD+ provides consumers with a truly unique viewing experience,"
said Zaslav. "It is the only place to see exclusive arts and
entertainment content that is 100% HD 24/7." Zaslav continued, "As

as well as arts and entertainment content such as "Music in High
Places," which features top recording artists performing at the most
ancient sites on earth. This series features performances from Ryan

Design II
Our guests surprise a loved one with a makeover of part of
their home or yard, with the help of designers Robert Verdi
and Rebecca Cole. Armed with some paint, a slide rule or two,
and their own brand of creative ingenuity, Robert and Rebecca
depend on the kindness of strangers in this case, the
homeowner's family and friends to get the job done. In one
day. With a budget that can't exceed $2,500. In each episode,
they squeeze in a "Quick Change": a super-fast, and
super-cheap, smaller project. Now in Hi-Definition every
weekday on Discovery HD Theater.
Starting

Superbowl Sunday...
...technology trend watchers expect
many football fans will be as excited about watching the big
game in high definition as they are about the actual event.
But what if the game's a
rout? What if youve got one of the over 600,000 new HD sets
purchased last December alone and want to take your friends
for an HD test drive? Or - could this be real - what if
there's not a football fan in the house? What other
programming could possibly compete on February 1st?
Discovery HD Theater, a
24/7 network offering true high def content, plans to offer an
extraordinary evening of HD viewers in any one of the above
situations. Offering the best of the HD best, Superbowl
Sunday will feature programs of especially eye-popping
features in 1080i HD. Called Super Bowl Showcase: The Xs and
Os of HD, the Discovery HD Theater extravaganza will feature a
broad range of entertainment options all in crystal clear HD.
Plus, viewers who tune in will be treated to the first-ever
sneak peek trailers of ARCTIC MISSION, a high def adventure
through the beautiful, unexplored region of the world - the

Four related and dysfunctional women contemplate their
neurotic lives in this witty film written and directed by
Nicole Holofcener. Jane is a well-meaning, but anxious

American daughter with a bottomless stomach. Through several
conflicts with men, food and the general public, the women's
body image and social anxiety issues rise to the surface as
each comes to terms with their appearance and self-esteem.
Catherine Keener, Brenda Blethyn, Emily Mortimer, Dermot
Mulroney, Jake Gyllenhaal and Raven Goodwin star.

Derived from SkyREPORT
Seems Mr. Murdoch would like to get his investment in DirecTV
back in and thinks you folks might be eager to suuport his
mission. He will increase the prices for DirecTV's base packages
between $1 and $3, depending on the package, beginning March 1.
That comes from the pockets of the people who can least afford
it--pensioners and those on fixed Social Security allowance--you
know, the people who are most dependant upon television for some
quality of life in our post agricultural age.
Here is the way it breaks down: Total Choice with locals,
$39.99 a month, a $1 jump; Total Choice Plus with locals, $42.99
a month, a $3 increase; and Total Choice Premier with locals,
$90.99 a month, a $3 jump. Without locals, package prices are:
Total Choice, $36.99, a $3 jump; Total Choice Plus, $39.99, a $2
increase; and Total Choice Premier, $87.99, a $2 increase.
But there is some good news for better-off HDTV owners and
those using the packages with foreign language channels, and
premium networks for they will not change, along with prices for
pay-per-view and the DirecTV DVR service. As for its upcoming
national promotion, DirecTV will offer new customers its Total
Choice with Locals package for $29.99 for the first six months
of a subscription, a $60 savings. Customers who purchase new
equipment, agree to a one-year commitment and subscribe between
March 1 and July 17 will be eligible for the offer. The
Spanish-language DirecTV Para Todos package with locals also
will be offered at the discount.
NBC TO BROADCAST DAYTONA 500 IN HD
First-Ever HD Coverage of NASCAR - HDTV
Broadcasts To Be Seen on NBC's DTV Affiliates
NEW YORK - Jan. 22, 2003 - NBC Sports will broadcast the
first-ever high definition coverage of a NASCAR race when it
provides exclusive live coverage of the 46th running of the
Daytona 500, Sunday Feb. 15, at Noon ET. In addition to the
Daytona 500, NBC Sports will provide live coverage of the
Hershey's Kisses 300 NASCAR Busch Series race in high definition
on Saturday Feb. 14 at Noon ET. The announcement was made today
by Ken Schanzer, President, NBC Sports.
"NBC's high definition broadcast of the Daytona 500 will deliver
the biggest event in motorsports and one of the premier events
in sports to NBC affiliate stations' digital television homes
using the world's premier television technology," said Schanzer.
"NASCAR has long been at the forefront of broadcast technology
and it is only appropriate that the 'Great American Race' - the
Daytona 500 - be the first auto race broadcast in High
Definition."
NASCAR on NBC &TNT director, Mike Wells, said: "When I'm sitting
at home watching a show in HD I think about how great NASCAR
will look using this technology. And there's no better race to
get started with than the Super Bowl of stock car racing - the
Daytona 500."
In 22 years of directing motorsports on television, Wells, a
17-time Emmy Award winner, has defined the way auto racing is
seen on television today.
The HDTV broadcast will be produced in 1080i HD format with
Dolby Surround Sound using the same HD mobile production unit
that will produce the Super Bowl in High Definition two weeks
prior and will feature the audio and commentators from NBC's
standard production.
NASCAR on NBC and TNT coverage will be led by play-by-play
announcer Allen Bestwick, analysts Benny Parsons and Wally
Dallenbach, pre-race host and lead pit reporter Bill Weber and
pit reporters Dave Burns, Marty Snider and Matt Yocum.
NBC currently has 115 digital television affiliates, reaching
approximately 83 percent of U.S. digital television households.
The CES and Hawaiian
reports are still labors of love but the administrative tasks
here have led me away from the writing of them. As soon as it is
ready it will come out to you. It is presently 6:30 am and I am
just finish up yesterday's urgencies. So, you see little time is
left until we staff up, and that is quite dependant upon our
market.
