Summary

The May 24, 2004 daily HD programming guide covers prime-time HDTV listings across ABC, CBS, NBC, TNT, and PBS, including NBA Playoffs coverage in true HDTV. An editorial note from management warns that TNT's limited HDTV budget means most of its content is upconverted rather than genuine high-definition, and threatens to de-list faux HDTV programs.

Starring Russell Crowe, Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly, Christopher Plummer, Paul Bettany, Adam Goldberg, Josh Lucas, Anthony Rapp, Jason Gray-Stanford, Judd Hirsch, Austin Pendleton, Vivien Cardone, Jill M. Simon, Victor Steinbach and Tanya Clarke.
In A Beautiful Mind, which spans a period between the late 1940s to the mid 1990s, Crowe stars as a genius whose early discoveries in the field of math still influence our lives today. Jennifer Connelly won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her portrayal of the graduate student who met, fell in love with, married and ultimately sustained Nash as his world and mind spiraled out of control. Paul Bettany portrays Nash's college roommate, as well as best friend and confidant, and Ed Harris is a secretive government agent who enlists Nash into a murky world of spies.

In addition to the Best Actress in a Supporting Role Oscar, the film also won the award for Best Picture (Ron Howard and Brian Grazer), Best Director (Howard), and Best Writing Based on Material Previously Produced or Published (Akiva Goldsman). Its other Oscar nominations were for Best Editing, Best Makeup and Best Music, Original Score.

A Beautiful Mind, released in 2001, was directed by Ron Howard and written by Akiva Goldsman, based on the book by Sylvia Nasar. The film is a production of Imagine Entertainment.

As most of you know who have the TNT service not much is in true HDTV at this stage of their development. The budget for HDTV at TNT is still slight. We will highlight with full program descriptions and images those programs we know to be in true HDTV. Those which are upconverted and then stretched to fill the screen do not get our attention nor do we wish to call them to anyone's attention for fear that someone new to HDTV will think that is all there is to it. I will continue to list their upconverted programs for the time being. If there is no expansion of their HDTV hours, however, I will de-list the faux HDTV programs. Until we have closer contqact with the source we may error in our notations of which is in HDTV. That will clear in a day or two.
