Better Off Dead...
PG Time:96
The course of true love is never smooth, but for one particular
high-school teen it's downright rocky. The girl of his dreams has
just ditched him for a conceited ski jock. What's a guy to do?
John Cusack (Identity) stars in this hilarious farce as the
likable Lane Myer who just can't get anything to go right--he
loses drag races to a Chinese Howard Cosell impersonator, the
paper boy is stalking him for two dollars and he's forced to deal
with his slovenly schoolmate Ricky ("Gee, I'm real sorry your mom
blew up, Ricky"). Even his mother's experimental dinners get up
and walk off the plate! It's enough to make a guy consider ending
it all...unless he can use his talent on the slopes to be a winner
once and for all! David Ogden Stiers, Curtis Armstrong (in perhaps
his finest performance as Lane's buddy Charles De Mar), Diane
Franklin and Amanda Wyss co-star in this 1985 comedy classic.
9:45AM ET/8:45 C
The Majestic
PG Time:152
"A proud patriotic hymn to America" (Roger Ebert). Amnesia and a
case of mistaken identity create the forum for this wonderful
Capra-esque drama set in the 1950s. Jim Carrey stars as Hollywood
screenwriter Peter Appleton, a cocky star-in-the-making who
suddenly finds his world falling apart after he is blacklisted.
But when a car wreck leaves him with severe amnesia in a small
coastal town, a local man claims Peter is his long-missing
war-veteran son, leading the town--and Peter--into a rebirth that
will change both forever. With Martin Landau, Laurie Holden, David
Ogden Stiers, Jeffrey DeMunn and Hal Holbrook. Directed by Frank
Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile).
12:30PM ET/11:30 C
Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights
PG Time:106
Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche (co-stars of The English
Patient) star in this rousing 1992 version of Emily Bronte's
brilliant novel about the doomed romance between a young woman and
her family's venomous former servant. Also with Janet McTeer
(Tumbleweeds), Sophie Ward (TV's Dinotopia) and Jeremy Northam
(The Winslow Boy). Directed by Peter Kosminsky (White Oleander).
2:45PM ET/1:45 C
The Cherokee Kid
PG13 Time:88
A young homesteader stumbles his way around the Old West--and
becomes a legend--in this amiable comedy-western. Sinbad plays
Isaiah Turner, whose quest to avenge his mother's death and find
his elder brother leads him into one accidental encounter after
another...and to fame and glory as the outlaw known as The
Cherokee Kid. With James Coburn, Gregory Hines, A Martinez, Ernie
Hudson and Burt Reynolds.
5:30PM ET/4:30 C
Weekend At Bernie's
PG13 Time:98
This wild comedy is no stiff, even if Bernie is! When two lowly
junior execs bring an insurance fraud to the attention of their
boss (the real criminal), he invites them to his beach house for a
discreet rub-out. But the gangsters get Bernie first, and it's up
to the two pals to make him "look alive" during a party-hearty
weekend while they find the killers! "...engagingly wacky and
deliciously dark" says the Hollywood Reporter. With Catherine Mary
Stewart.

hapless shrink and an unbalanced patient who happens to be a mob
boss. This time around, gangster Paul Vitti is in prison singing
songs from West Side Story. Believing he's lost his mind, the
authorities agree to let him out--but only into the care of his

15 minutes of fame. With Alan King, Cliff Gorman, Eli Wallach and
Jack Warden.
2:30AM ET/1:30 C
The Pentagon Wars
R Time:103
Truth is stranger than fiction in this satiric comedy about an
honest Air Force officer's attempt to expose a case of government

billion developing a simple troop carrier? Colonel Cary Elwes
(Liar Liar) is determined to find out...and Pentagon general
Kelsey Grammer (TV's Frasier) is just as determined to stop him!
With Olympia Dukakis (TV's Moonstruck).
